Entourage OS X repopping

We have seen a problem where Entourage running under OS X 10.3.x is
redownloading messages that have already been popped and left on the
server. It acts like it doesnt have a uidl file or that something is
wrong with it and when it connects to the server it suddenly sees the
hundreds of messages and repops them.

Has anyone seen this? I searched around but could not find any
definitive answers. Any help is appreciated.

That would depend on what you mean by "repops" them. Do you mean it
opens them all at once? I've never seen such behavior.
