I seem to have a real problem using
SpellCatcher in Mac OS-X 10.4 'Tiger.'

The shorthand or misspelled word is no
longer removed (replaced) when the correction
is pasted. E.g.:

Type:  mac    Becomes:    macMac
Type:  cant    Becomes:    cantcan't
Type:  wbh    Becomes:    wbhWayne B. Hewitt

and so on for any other corrected word. Needless
to say this makes the corrections almost useless.

  Has anyone else seen this?

Hardware Overview:

  Machine Name:    Power Mac G4
  Machine Model:    PowerMac3,4
  CPU Type:    PowerPC G4  (2.0)
  Number Of CPUs:    1
  CPU Speed:    733 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU):    256 KB
L3 Cache (per CPU):    1 MB
  Memory:    768 MB
  Bus Speed:    133 MHz
  Boot ROM Version:    4.2.8f1

Yes, I have that problem as well.  I guess they need to release a
compatibility fix.

I also e-mailed the SpellCatcher feedback line. They replied
that this was a known problem in Pages, Keynote, and Mail:

<Quote:>

"As with Apple's Pages and Keynote 2 applications, you have to
turn off the Interactive preference to "Make replacements
directly without backspacing" in the version of Apple's Mail that
ships with 10.4. The same may also apply to Safari on 10.4. The
new editing view used to compose mail messages and edit HTML (an
editable WebView) does not fully support TSM Document Access,
even though it claims to. Sigh."
