Mail.app 2.0: Is it just me, or...?

...did Apple take away the Status Bar, so that the only way you can tell
what Mail.app is doing is if you give up more screen space and open the
"Activity Viewer" window?

I liked seeing what the program was doing as I looked at my inbox.

I've seen overall criticisms of Mail's new design, which doesn't bother me,
but the apparent lack of something that used to be so useful sure bothers
me.

Can someone else provide confirmation as to the removal of the Status Bar?

Thanks!

I haven't installed Tiger yet.  But Mail 1.x has a Show/Hide Status Bar
command in the View menu.  Maybe you accidentally typed Cmd-Opt-S and
hid the status bar.

Mail 2 doesn't.

That's the first thing I looked for :) The command itself is gone from the
view menu, and its keyboard shortcut produces nothing but an error beep. :(

Thanks!

Status is still there but it isn't a bar anymore. When checking for new
mail, check the tiny spinning clock (?) next to your inbox.

IMHO, Best new feature of  mail 2.0 is the fact that all of your aliases
are now available from the app and not just the web-page.

What aliases and web page are you talking about?

The one's you can create on the DotMac website for your account:

Yes, I do see it appear briefly when checking mail, but it does not seem to
duplicate the information provided by the status bar, such as the total
number of messages in a mailbox (not just unread), or how many messages were
in the process of downloading.

Thanks!
