Can I turn off auto fill in Address Book?

Inadvertently, I made some incorrect entries early on in Address Book.
When I first typed in my local state, I forgot to hit the tab before
entering a zip code. Now, every time I enter the state, I have to hit
the delete button to rid the entry of a zip code. There are a few other
typos that have crept in as well. I'd like to kill auto fill but I can't
seem to find a preference or other place to do that. Ideally, I'd
probably like to just erase the auto fill memory, but I haven't been
able to figure out where that kind of information is kept and the
situation is really becoming annoying.

This is almost certainly one of the most-asked questions about Address
Book.  And unfortunately the answer seems to be that there's no way to
turn it off.
