I've recently got mac mini and I'm trying to port my music library from
the pc to mac.  Using the "Add Library" function seems to be doing the
job except that it creates two copies of each song: song.mp3 and
song1.mp3; identical in every respect.  What's up with that?
Thanks for the help.

Nope.  Shagged them from the shared directory on the PC using the "add
library" function.  I can see itunes copying the files twice directly
into the itunes directory.  Its as if the SMB share was reporting the
files names on the PC twice.
