iTunes 5?

I'd like to buy iLife '05 (mostly for the nested directories in iPhoto),
but I already have iTunes 4.7.1, and I'd feel pretty silly if they
released iTunes 5 and I had to buy iPhoto 5 again to get it.  Does
anyone know a) if they're likely to update iTunes to 5 before the next
major iLife release, and b) if iLife comes with a coupon or something
that will let me upgrade iTunes for cheap?

iTunes has been free until now, no particular reason to expect a change
there. iTunes is part and parcel of Apple's iPod success, I doubt they'd
shoot themselves in the foot that way. No sweat, I think.

Before an "iLife '06"? Probably.

Nope. See above. (Anyway iLife _is_ cheap - IMHO, that is.)

People can't buy ITMS songs without iTunes, so I think it will always be
free.  Just like it's free to sit in Barnes and Noble and read, because
even if you just buy a muffin and some coffee, they make a small profit.

iTunes is free to download from Apple, not to worry about new versions.

The current iTunes upgrade is free for the downloading.  They include
it on the iLife media, but the guy at the apple store was quick to point
out that that's just to save you download time for a free product.

You'll love iPhoto's upgrade.  Worth the 80 bucks alone.

I agree.

It's a significant upgrade from version 4.

Does it handle rotated images properly now? (I.e., does it honor EXIF
orientation data s.t. thumbnails and photos are correctly rotated?)

iPhoto 4 recognized when my photos were shot "portrait" (two different
Kodak models) and iPhoto 5 also handles them properly.

iTunes is a free download. Apple shoes no signs of changing the status
of iTunes. The only reason Apple includes iTunes in the iLife package is
as a convenience. You can get the exact same software free by
downloading it and I highly doubt that will change if Apple releases an
iTunes 5.
