Hello all.
I've finally done the quantum leap from my old G3 to a G5.
I'm desperately trying to locate my old mail (Outlook 5.0) that I had
on my G3.
I tried the setup assistant, which unfortunately goes on the blink
after a good 20-30 minutes so I'm going to physically transfer the
messages by hand.
But how? Where are they??
Thank you,

Paul Weber

If the answer to the previous question is YES, then they are probably
here :
Macintosh HD:Documents:Microsoft User Data:...

No luck, I'm afraid...
I've actually heard that Outlook treats all the incoming mail as one
big glob of data. What kind of file is it? If I manage to find it I'll
simply transfer it to the new 'puter and then attempt to import it in
Mail...

Thanks again,

Paul

Then it's probably in the OE application folder itself, even
though this is a a bad practice.

You can also search your Mac for *user data* and it should
show up.

When you do find it you can try pointing your mail app of
choice at this folder, since I think both Mail and Entourage
look at the supporting files in addition to the single
database of messages and contacts.

This might work. When it's in the OE folder I copy that
entire folder to the new Mac.

I forget the file type of the OE DB, but it's not mbox if
that's what you were hoping for.

hth,

Jeff
