I just upgraded a Filemaker database from FM6 under OS9 to FM7 under
10.3.8, and the database won't share. Under 9 (even with FM6/OSX
clients), the Hosts buttons brings the database right up. Under 10.3.8,
the Remote button (which replaced Hosts) sees no databases. I tried web
publishing, and that did make the databases available... sort of. It
prompts for a password I've never seen. I'm stumped. Ideas welcome.

I haven't got a copy here with me, so sorry if some of this sounds
vague.
Filemaker 7 is a whole different kettle of fish re. sharing. In one of
the menus (either 'File' or 'Edit') is a sharing option, here you get
to say whether or not the file is open for sharing and also by whom.
Somewhere in there (one of the 'Define' options I think) you get to set
users and groups and set password. It should tell you what the default
is.
When I get to work on Monday I'll have a better look at this for you
and post back.

Can you redefine the hosts/remote? You may want to ask this question in
comp.databases.filemaker
