I've got a friend that had a HD crash. He has the OFFICE98 CD to reload but
has lost his CD-key to do the reload. Anyone have any suggestions?

He didn't have it written down somewhere? And the CD jewelbox and inserts
have gone missing?

1 Contact Mickeysoft. Be prepared to kiss a.s. Be prepared to deal with
disbelief.
2 go to the nearest warez newsgroup, site, P2P watering hole, whatever, and
look for the assorted collections of serial numbers which abound in those
places. Perhaps one such collection will have what you need. Perhaps not.
3 there is no three.

IIRC Office 98 for the Mac came in a round saucer-like case with the CDs
in individual sheath-type enclosures that were all connected to the
inside of the case. The key took me a while to find at first. It's
written on a little sticker that's stuck to the lower side of one of the
blank pieces of plastic. Maybe it's still there and he just missed it.
If it's really gone, it's GONE. Maybe now's a good time to introduce
him to openoffice/neooffice.

That's Office 2001. Office 98 came in a standard jewel case, with the
CD key on the back.
