This file (DUSupport) is *within* the application, as far as I can tell.
I reloaded the application from 10.3.7 updater, but no joy.

Hmm...looks like you've possibly got some confused bits on your computer.
The executable for Disk Utility should be at
/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app/Contents/MacOS/Disk Utility
but for some reason whatever you're running is trying to run
/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility/Disk Utility
That second path shouldn't exist.
Do you have both a Disk Utility and Disk Utility.app in
/Applications/Utilities? I'd suggest checking in Terminal to be sure.

if I recall it right it's memory related (too much). Take out the second
memory bank and it should run fine. After running disk utility you can
put back the additional memory.

This error was just too spooky.
Reinstalled OS X 10.3.7. All is fine.

Possibly you moved Disk Utility at some point (into a folder called Disk
Utility? can't quite tell). This would cause it to become hosed during
any subsequent update. Another possibility is that you've accidentally
got two copies of Disk Utility on your machine (this is sometimes caused
by doing an archive and install update of the system and then failing to
remove the old system files). m.
