hello,
can anyone recommend an audio recording app. for maxosX (i have ibook
g4) where you can record an audio stream from the internet?  I like to
listen to radio shows and record them.
I'm new to the mac world (ibook g4) and so far I love it!

This is an awesome laptop.  Unfortunately, I'm not too familiar with the
available apps. for this OS.  However, I am able to do EVERYTHING I did
on a windows PC (business tasks).  Home user experience is much better
on the mac.  Now I just want little things like the audio stream
recorder.  Even on a PC, this doesn't come as a standard app.

Thank you for any advice,

Oskar

Take a look at:

http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/

Wiretap used to be available as a more basic freeware application (which
I still use occasionally) but this appears to have been withdrawn now
that a "Pro" version has been produced.

What about something from iLife, or even Amadeus II?

No, not for capturing an audio stream.  For that you need the
aforementioned WireTap Pro or Audio Hijack (pro or non-pro).

The old original WireTap still does the job for me.  Granted, it has no
spiffy features of the newer pro versions of WireTap or AudioHijack that
let the computer do the recording on its own with scheduling features.
But I don't mind.  Free is still the right price for me.  When I want to
record NPR's Car Talk, I hit record on Wiretap, I go running for 50
minutes, I get home, I hit stop-recording, and I convert it to mp3 for
my mp3 player.

Original WireTap still seems to be available at:

Were you actually able to download it from there?  I just tried and
wasn't able to.

No, I didn't try downloading it.  If true, looks like I'd better burn a
copy of the old WireTap that I like 'cause it now seems that I can't get
another one!  Or I could always pay for software.  Nah.

If you are into Darwin at all and you just want to record shoutcast
streams...setup the darwin ports and install streamripper...free
command line tool..will even save the mp3 with song title and
composer..otherwise I would suggest audio hijack(standard, or pro
version)...it is at http://

I use iRecordMusic (http://www.bitcartel.com/irecordmusic/) and Audio
Hijack Pro (http://rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/).

iRecordMusic has a sometimes-useful iCal-based scheduling system, while
Audio Hijack Pro has more flexibility if you need to vary the type of
recordings you make (different bitrates, file sizes, etc.). Both apps
have served me well.

You might try RadioLover for the obvious and Audio Hijack for
everything else you might want to record.

Please, no "Go Google this" replies. I wouldn't
ask a question here if I hadn't done that already.
