After messing around with my computer I can no longer open links in a
new window. I can open with tabs but not a new window - either with the
mouse settings or the keyboard. it just spins till I move my mouse and
stops. I tried different pref settings to no avail.

Can someone please help.

I'm having trouble with FireFox losing focus on my active window. Try
comp.infosystems.www.browsers.mac
and see if you can get some expert help from their coders there.

Hi,

Have you found a solution? This morning I came in at work and I have
the same thing. Suddenly it has become impossible to open a new window,
either target="_blank" links, JavaScript window.open or even using the
context menu 'open in new window'. Firefox simply doesn't do it
anymore. Infact, even ctrl-N is dead.

Are you sure there isn't a minimised window in the dock? Firefox does
this if you leave the Downloads window open and close all Browser
windows. It can also _seem to_ do it if the browser window is minimised
(inn the dock). In that case, the window will actually update, but stay
minimised and thus lead you to believe nothing happens. Annoying...

I have tried everything and I mean EVERYTHING including installing a new
Firefox. All to no avail. Additional problems cropped up including often
having to force quit Firefox. I finally gave up and reluctantly
returned to Safari.

You may need to go into ~/Library/ and poke around or maybe even delete
the diirectory created by Firefox, then relaunch it.
