The most fun I ever had with a computer game (even better than Crystal
Quest) was the After Dark  module "Lunatic Fringe". Is there any place
to get this now? Any way to play it on a Mac running OS X? I have a rule
that I don't run classic if there is any way to avoid it, but would make
an exception for this. Anyone?

It's basically just Asteroids.  There's tons of games currently
available which are similar.  Check out EV Nova, to some degree.

Yah, but I thought it was a really -good- implementation of an Asteroids
type game, and would love to play it again....

Even better than those, IMHO, is "The Zone", my all-time fav pre-OS X
arcade game and still available from Dappsoft:
