I'm using iTunes 4.7 on a PC and would like to remove some of the
tracks I had added to my library but have no clue how to do it. Any
ideas?

I don't want to delete the actual files from my disk or anything, just
want to remove them from my iTunes library.
Really appreciate any / all help.

Select it in the Library and press the Delete/Backspace key.  You'll be
asked whether you want to remove it from the hard disk, or just from the
Library.

If you select & delete it in a playlist, it'll just delete it from that
playlist.

Assuming the peecee version works like the Mac version...

Select the desired track from the Library and hit [delete].

A dialog will appear confirming your command.  Select [yes].

Another dialog will then appear advising that some of the selected track are
in your iTunes Music Library - Do you want to move them to the Trash? (Recycle
Bin in your case) - select [yes].

This sequence will remove the track from the library but then only move it to
the Trash/Recycle Bin - not "nuke" it.  You'll have to move it from the Trash
to wherever you like in order to keep it elsewhere.

If you select [no], it's gone.

Ummmm, no. Do _not_ do this. Answer "no", and the track is removed
from your library, but remains as a file where ever you had it stored.
It is much easier to do this than risk accidentally empyting trash
that you "really" just wanted to move somewhere else. You can move
the sound file anywhere you like. Use the Get Info panel to locate
where the file is, before deleting it.

Oops!  I did it again!   <sigh>

Thanks for the SUPERIOR procedure.  I learned something, too.
