I have reinstalled after trashing every pref, application support, etc.
I could find. WHen I double click any type compressed file, Stuffit
just hops in Dock and pointer spins. I must Force Quit. Like wise, when
I try opening any of the appsby double-clicking them, the same happens.
I can expand/compress by clicking onec on the item in Finder and using
the MagicMenu in the Menu Bar or right-clicking the item in Finder.
SD 8.0.1
OS X 10.3.7
1 GHz G4
1.25 GB RAM
I have done the usual diagnostics and repairs (Permissions, TechTool,
DiskWarrior).
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tim

How long have you tried waiting, and have you got version checking
enabled in the various stuffit apps? Apparently the server to which they
connect to check for updates has been gone for several days and they
don't handle the absence gracefully.

I've seen this behavior with Stuffit 9 so I asked for a refund. Stuffit
8 works as advertised.

This has been commented on before. It appears that the hangup is version
tracker in Stuffit looking over the internet. The solution is to wait
until it finally starts (it will eventually), and then open the Stuffit
preferences. The last (or next to last) icon to the right is a check box
for the update tracker. Uncheck this, and Stuffit should then start up
just fine. Mine does.
