I recently upgraded from OS 8.6 and some of my legacy programs don't
seem to have made the upgrade :-(
What I need is a thumbnail app. where I can dump a folder of bmps or
jpgs or tifs and get the app to produce a thumbnail album (with the file
names listed below the image). An html export feature would be nice, too :-)
So far, I've tried ImageIndexer (doesn't list the image name), PhotoPage
(which doesn't seem to want to deal with more than one image at a time),
Let'sSee (which is good for 15 tries)... . I really need to be able to
see a whole batch of images and have the file names attached to them.
And it doesn't seem that iPhoto wants to make an album that'll be
exported. It. Just. Doesn't. Wanna.
Help?

You can get plug-ins for iPhoto that should do the trick... there are a
few (such as iGalerie) that will produce web galleries (complete with
thumbnails) from an iPhoto Album. They do a little more than you want
them to do, but once they have produced the web page from the album you
could simply use the thumbnails it creates...

Select an album in iPhoto. Use the File -> Export menu command, click on
Web Page, set the options, and click Export. Tell it where to save the
files. It'll generate the HTML files, thumbnail files (one per photo),
etc., putting them all in the folder you selected. When it's done, copy
the entire folder to your web server.
iPhoto's web export feature doesn't have many options. There are iPhoto
plug-ins that give more control over how the web album will look. I use
BetterHTMLExport <http://www.droolingcat.com/software/betterhtmlexport/>.

Ah. Oh. This is embarrassingly easy to do :-] I thought I tossed in
'icons' into the Help on iPhoto and nothing came up that was relevant.
Or did I toss in 'thumbnail' or 'album'? Guess it serves me right for
not being exact in my needs :-)
Thank you very much. Now I have a lot of choices to produce thumbnail
albums and I get to dither around some more with freeware and shareware
and iPhoto while I procrastinate doing what I'm suppose to be doing
(which is creating specific thumbnail albums).

Have you looked at JAlbum? <http://www.jalbum.net/>
It is a free (donation-ware) program that will take any folder of
images, create thumbnails and make a web site for displaying the images.
Many different skins are available for many different looks.
I think it is great...

Great! Another reason to dither. I'll have to play with this, too.
I'm never going to get my original task of setting up thumbnail albums
done in a timely manner :-)
Thank you for the pointer. I'll take a look at the program.

GraphicConverter should do this.
