i'm on a g4 iBook 1ghz running panther 10.3.5, and iPhoto 4.0.3.
i'd like to be able to burn a cdr (from within iPhoto) that is windows
friendly. now if i click on "burn" from within iPhoto i get a cdr that
works fine on a mac with iphoto, but it's not windows friendly. i would
have assumed that iPhoto would just burn a CDR of the .jpg files
selected, but it places them in all kinds of folders, separated by dates
and all kinds of other stuff.
i also have Toast Titanium 6.0. I've read that there used to be a
plugin that made burning to toast directly from iPhoto possible, but i
can't seem to find said plugin.
is there a way to have iPhoto burn a CDR of just the photos selected, or
send it to Toast to burn the cd?
thanks,
rick

What I do is Export the selected photos (or albums) as a web album, then
drag the resulting folder into Toast and burn it as a hybrid CD. The
built-in Web Page export option works for this, but the BetterHTMLExport
plugin has a lot more options.
Both Windows and Mac users can just insert the CD and double-click on the
"index.html" file to view the album in their web browser.

i've tried selecting the folder that i want to burn in iPhoto, then
command-a clicking, then dragging the photos into an open toast window,
and that will burn just the photos to a disc, but this seems to be a bit
of a hassle. command-c to copy in iphoto, then command-v to paste in
toast doesn't seem to work. i was just looking for an easier way...

one more thing.
it is relatively easy to select the photos, begin a drag with the
mouse/cursor, and hit command-tab to bring the toast window to the front
to drop them into, but this is the sort of process that is somewhat
difficult to explain to my girlfriend who wants to burn picture cd's for
her friends. she doesn't understand why the "burn" button doesn't work,
like she thinks it should.
are there any plugin or something that will help with this?

Correct. iPhoto's "burn" command IS NOT intended to create a CD full of images
for sharing; it is intended to back up the iPhoto library so that if you lose
your hard drive you don't have to rebuild the library.
Making a CD full of iPhoto images is far, far easier than many people
believe--so easy, in fact, that they miss how to do it and use convoluted
workarounds instead.
You do not need to export the images, build a gallery, use Toast, or anything
like that. Instead:
1. Insert a blank CD when iPhoto is not running. If you get a dialog asking
what to do, tell the Finder to prepare it. The blank CD icon pops up on the
desktop.
2. Run iPhoto.
3. Select the pictures you want to burn and drag them to the CD. Just click,
drag them out of the iPhoto window, and drop 'em on the icon of the CD.
4. Tell the Finder to burn the CD.
That's it!
