And is there a work around?

There is a section on how to print selected pages, but if you select one
page the *entire* document prints.

Am I wrong or is this just BAD design? What was wrong with letting the
print dialog box give the page or pages desired????

Humbug.

Preview does, through the print dialog window allow you to select what
page, or range of pages to be printed. Try clicking the triangle button
to the right of your printer's name.

This works on OS 10.5.7 and Preview 4.2.

That's not my experience. I can print a range of pages, an individual
page, etc.

There is a triangle next to the name of the selected printer in the
print dialog. Have you clicked on that to show the expanded dialog?

No, I didn't even notice the button.

TO PRINT SELECTED PAGES IN PREVIEW:

Execute Print menu command or Cmd-P in the app in which you're working

Choose Preview from Print dialog window that opens

After Preview display opens showing material to be printed:

*  DON'T click the Print button at the bottom

*  DO execute the Print menu command or Cmd-P a second time, IN PREVIEW

Choose desired pages in Print dialog window that opens IN PREVIEW

Click Print button in Print dialog box, IN PREVIEW

Once printing starts and you're back in Preview display, cancel the
original Print command or close the Preview window
