I've had a version of Applejack on my machines for years and have 1.5
on them now, given a choice I wouldn't be without it.
Its just a shell script that takes advantage of resources already on
your Mac. The advantage is that it runs from single user mode which can
save your bacon when you have boot problems. Add Diskwarrior to the mix
and you can recover from almost any HD screw-up that isn't due to
mechanical failure.

John,
Are you using version 1.5 on an Intel Mac with OSX 10.5 (Leopard)? The
reason for asking is the older AppleJack gave me fits when I upgraded to
from Tiger to Leopard.

Thanks.... I assume the Yes means both are using Leopard 10.5 with no
AppleJack issues

Check the Applejack site. Some people are having problems with 1.5 on
Leopard, and the author agrees that there is a bug. It may not hit you,
and it's not that hard to work round, but maybe best to wait. Sorry I
don't have the details myself.

Not exactly a bug, the problem seems to be associated with the Little
Snitch.kext file. If you've had Little Snitch v1 installed and have
removed it and left the kext file, you may see issues after rebuilding
cache files in Leopard.
Either remove the Little Snitch.kext (from v1) or update Little Snitch
to v2. Little Snitch v1 is not compatible with Leopard so nothing is
lost.

Hi John (et al)
Based on your advice I installed and ran AppleJack 1.5 on this 24-inch
2.4 GHz iMac and it cleaned up all kinds of crap and is working great
after it did its thing.
Thank for the feedback

Ps: I have been having Mighty Mouse issues for months and
they are history after AppleJack did its thing.
