I have a smart folder in my Mail application for a listserver
(Dragaera) which I subscribe to.   The newest novel in that series
just came out, but mine is being delivered to my work, and I'm on
vacation this week.

I'd like to clear out messages from my in-box, and read them all next
week after I've read the novel.   I see them both in my smart folder
and in my in-box, and am afraid to delete them from my in-box because
I don't want them deleted both places.   (I suppose I could just not
empty my trash).

How does this work, are my fears justified?

You can create a new folder (not smart folder) and put those mails
there, when they arrive.

You can also create a rule to have all those mails put the mails in
the new folder  (and have them marked read, so they won't bother you
in "Unread").

If you delete those mails from Inbox, they are gone indeed.

That's right, I never use regular folders with iTunes.

I tried to find the create new rules command, and the closest I could
find searching or with the help menu is "apply rules".   I must be
having a senior moment.

Ahh.   Apple does think differently.   Thanks.

I think it's accessible only via the the preferences.
