I strongly recommend forgetting about the "new-wave hi-tech your kids
can be SMARTER by using a COMPUTER" thing and buying some workbooks.
I had great success by going out and getting various "math
supplemental..." type books marked 2 or 3 grades above my kids' current
actual grade. IMHO it's far easier to work on a table, with a pencil,
and even doing the work on the workbook page right next to the problem
itself, than to fart around with a glitzy computer screen.
And, btw, there is no robo-tutor available. If your kid has a question
about a problem, it will take a human to discuss it with him/her.

Totally agree with all of your points. And I have the other things
you've mentioned. I'm just trying to provide multiple avenues toward
learning.
My first computer was an Apple II. I learned a lot toward studying for
the SATs with it... ;)
