questions about imovie

Hello,

I'm a novice user of imovie, learning as I go.

Could someone please direct me to the correct answers for these
questions:

*  How to have images from a given source, but to suppress its audio,
so that the sound from a different source is heard alone?

*  When a "still" (i.e. a TIFF or JPG picture) is played, imovie
defaults to displaying it for 5 seconds, and slowly enlarging it
onscreen.  How do I defeat these presets?  I'd like to choose the
display time, and no auto-enlarging.

*  How to turn a series of stills into an 30-frame-per-second
animation?

*  Which animation formats can imovie import?  So far, it won't
interpret AVI's for me.

I've already looked up the answers to some questions on Google, some
on the Apple tutorial site, and have asked some questions of the help
staff here at the library's computer lab.  And of course, I've figured
some things out the old-fashioned way.

Thank you for all serious replies!

You could use this to convert it to a quicktime format. I am using it
and is very good!
