Any NeoOffice destination report I've tried, but in particular:
Create->Ahnentafel Report->Destination: NeoOffice->Open

2.2.3 Patch 2

9.07
and MacOS X 10.5.2

I signed up days ago but am still waiting to be approved to post. Ah,
I just checked and seem to be able to get the post window now.

Aha! But I've never heard of RTFD. Why would they not give a choice of
RTF or RTFD if it causes problems like this I wonder?

Haven't heard of ODF either. Should Reunion users really need to know
about RTFD and ODF to use NeoOffice on a Mac platform with Reunion?
After all, the RTF file destination works, and then opening NeoOffice on
it works.

So, what advantage does RTFD offer?

So there goes the RTFD theory?

Ahnentafel, but I think any with NeoOffice as destination.
I'll take this to ReunionTalk now. I thought there'd be a simpler
answer.

It's smaller, reduces write times after edits and is more efficient use
of backup storage.
The thing is that there's no standard mechanism for handling embedded
images in baseline RTF. Each vendor comes up with their own way to do
it. Microsoft, last time I looked, actually embedded the data. TextEdit
uses the NeXT package mechanism and stores the images as discrete
resources. NeoOffice doesn't seem to want to even know about the notion
of graphics in RTF streams, which is weird because I was under the
impression that OpenOffice.org *did* and stored them externally (like
Apple) but without the benefit of the package concept.

I'm guessing the difference is in the use of multimedia items. I always
include pictures when I generate reports. If I were to turn that off, I
suspect that the output would be RTF instead.

Bingo! I recently added pictures and checked the box to include them.
I just unchecked that box and NeoOffice worked!
Now to see what they say about fixing it at ReunionTalk!
Thanks!!!

For those interested, here is the solution from ReunionTalk.
> Reunion can be set to save reports in a format that NeoOffice will recognize.
>
> Open your family file and choose Reunion -> Preferences. Then, click on the Reports icon and select RTF in the Options list. Then, uncheck the box to "Create .rtfd files when needed."
>
> Finally, create your report (with or without Preferred pictures) and NeoOffice should open it:-)
