Is there a difference in upload throughput capacity beteen you and him?
Maybe iChat expects a minimum throughput to upload a screen image?
Otherwise weren't you trying to share both screens at the same time by
any chance?
I'd say it is either one or the other

My mistake. I successfully did this (sharing screen from machine A to B,
then sharing screen from B (including its view of A) back to A.
The perspective effect (and wifi lag) is quite remarkable.

Hi Danny,
Do you realize that if such a thing were to occur there would be an
inter-dimensional rift of a magnitude sufficient to threaten all life as
we know it?
No, you can't have Leigh see your screen...of your seeing his screen at the
same time as he's seeing your screen of his seeing your screen at the same
time...
Thankfully, Apple's programmers were wise enough to provide that
graying-out override of the possibility...thus saving humanity from
itself, and all scenes of humanity saving itself from itself while humanity
is saving itself from...

I've done this with VNC. Its kind-of-Kewl! From machine 'A' VNC
to machine 'B'. Now using that VNC connection, get machine 'B' to
VNC into machine 'A'. The effect is amazing :-)
