Firefox/video problem

Sometimes when viewing video on a web page in Firefox the video frame
is invisible unless the page is scrolled up so that the top of the
frame touches the bottom of the menu bar. i've seen it with most types
of web video, such as flash or QT. However it isn't consistent;it
occurs at times, then doesn't occur. On youtube for instance, it
happens on one video but not another. Or it may happen on all I view on
a given session or none.

Has anyone else seen this?

If you use AdBlock Plus, try changing the Options > Show Tabs on Flash
and Java setting to see if that helps.

How do you access the Options ?

My Adblock Plus Preferences only shows the Address Filters :-(

I'm using a Mac G4, 10.2.8, FireFox 2.0.0.12, Adblock Plus 0.7.5.3

I didn't see them either - then I went to work and saw options there.
I've got to remember to check again at home.

Right-click the ABP icon and you should see a contextual menu with an
"Options" item.

I didn't see that, but when I open the Tools/Add ons/Adblock
Plus/preferences window, the options is available at the top.   The drop
down checks I have:

x   Enable Adblock Plus
x   Collapse blocked elements
   Check banner links
x   Show in toolbar
   Show in status bar

Look again.  The ABP icon is a red stop sign-shaped icon in the tool bar
of any Firefox browser window.

My AdBlock Plus Preferences window shows no Options button - anywhere.

When I right-click (Control-click) the ABP icon in the web browser
window (status bar, in my case), the Options sub-menu shows:

Show tabs on Flash and Java
x    Collapse blocked elements
    Check banner links
    Show in toolbar
x    Show in status bar

What version of AdBlock Plus are you running??
My version is 0.7.5.3, which I believe is the latest.

That's optional, it may be set or not.   But when I right click it, I
see:
x Navigation Toolbar
x Bookmark toolbar
 Customize

7.5.3

Oh I see now. Try *normal* clicking the little arrow beside the ABP icon
in the tool bar, then look at the Options sub-menu.  You'll see the
"Show tabs on Flash and Java" menu item I've been talking about all this
time.

See I have "Show in status bar" checked. When I right-click the ABP icon
in the statu bar (bottom) of a Firefox window, I get the Options
sub-menu with the items listed above.

I've tried both ABP settings.   Neither one made a difference to the
original problem.

Got a link to such a movie handy, so others here can experiment with
possible fixes?

OK.  Although it may be related to add-ons.

Hmmm, my usual suspect worked OK.   Maybe I just needed to Quit Firefox
and restart after setting up ABP.

Meanwhile, do you know how to find out what to block in

I sure have, and I have no solution.  However, I haven't seen it happen
in FF3b3.

I've asked about this in mozilla.support.firefox in news.mozilla.org,
but haven't yet found why this happens.

When I look at this page http://www.neatorama.com/index.php and it has
videos, I can only see the videos by scrolling up and down to the
right spot.

Thanks to all who responded. Jolly Roger's advice to change the Adblock
option on show tabs on Flash and Java seems to have worked. It was
checked, apparently by default, and I unchecked it.  By the way Howard,
the link you enclosed behaved the same way for me as it did you - it
worked as intended when the option was changed.

I'm on a Mac Pro. 10.5.2, Firefox 2.00.12
