Relocating iChat save folder?

Is it possible to have iChat save conversations some place other than
its built-in (default) location?  (it's ~/Documents/iChats or
something like that.)   I tried replacing the iChat folder with an
alias named "iChat" to where I want the conversations to be saved, but
it didn't work.  No error reported, just didn't work (nothing saved.)
If I click on the "open" button in the preferences that opens where
it's saving, it does go to the new location, but doesn't seem to chase
the alias when it's actually saving.

(couldn't find anything either here or at Apple, although there was an
indication that if iChat found an alias -- a poster had aliased his
Documents folder -- it didn't do the right thing with it.)

You might try a soft link instead.  I'm betting that would work.

Why do you want to change the location, anyway?

yup, that worked. thanks.  (I did eventually find that suggestion
buried in some discussion in an apple.com forum, but no response
indicating that it worked.)

Because I like my files in meaningful places!
