I am on a Mac running OS10.4.8; my friend is on a pc; we chat on
Yahoo Messenger. I'd like to record the image of my friend on his
webcam as it appears on my computer screen so I can get a .rm or .mov
or .avi file. Can anyone tell me what I need to do this? Thanks for
any advice...

Thank you, JR, for taking the  time to respond. I checked out this Web
site and the app looks good, but the reviews were SO mixed, with so
many people registering problems, that I'm going  to hold off on it.
I'm not that computer-savvy, and I really need something that won't
send me running back to beg for more advice or have me pulling out my
hair in frustration. Hope some other alternative presents itself. But
thanks again very much.

For every person posting about a problem there, there are likely many
more of us who haven't posted there and haven't had problems with Snapz
Pro (me, for example). The point is I definitely think you shouldn't let
this stand in your way.  I am pretty sure there are other alternatives
-though I'm betting some of them are much more problematic!  Like I
said, I haven't had many problems at all with Snapz Pro!

I've used it for years. No problems whatsoever.

Does Snapz Pro work with RealPlayer streaming video?

Never believe anything until it's officially denied.

I haven't ever come across anything it couldn't record. If you want to
know for sure, why not ask Ambrosia?:

Thanks. JR.  When I have a chance, I think I'll just download their 15
day trial and take it around the block a few times.

iShowU is a cheaper option that works just as well for many video
capture tasks:

There was a scrappy (buggy) program that kinda advertised encoding a
screen as if it were firewire.  But the best would just be a screen
recording program.  Goto versiontracker.com and type screen record...
