This does not happen in all libraries, but sometimes it doesn't take.
The panel comes up and you say yes but when you click again it still
shows you can revert and when you look in the library, the original file
is still in the Modified directory.
I checked to se if the library was locked and it isn't. Any ideas?

This will probably be of little help but, after having invoked Revert to
Original, the menu item, which should be grayed-out, often remains active.
This has been my experience through several versions as well as incremental
updates and persists with the current 7.1.1 (354). An edited photo always
reverts (I noticed the change) but I have never delved into determining in
which folder it resided afterwards.
This function, IMHO, has always been a little flaky in that those photos that
I KNOW I never touched OFTEN offer the Revert to Original menu item. When
invoked, nothing VISIBLY changes BUT the menu item remains available.
IOW, the function has always worked for me but the menu item has always been
flaky.

Bob -- I have the same version of iPhoto, but since I moved from a PPC
G4 to an Intel iMac, I haven't been able to find the Original and
Modified files on my hard drive. They were kinda easy to find using
the 2005, 2006, 2007 system of filing, but with Events, I'm lost.
Can you post the path of getting down to those files?
Thanks

You mean this information isn't readily available in the iPhoto
documentation?
I'm shocked -- shocked!

Following up to my above post. I found the answer, but not the solution.
When I was using the G4 I also backed up (with SuperDuper) to an 80G
external hard drive. When I upgraded to the new 24-inch iMac with 320G
HD, I got a Lacie 320G and continued the SuperDuper backups.
In moving from the G4 to the iMac I went the Archive and Install route
and am still using Tiger (10.4.11) but the new iMac came with iPhoto 08
(v. 7.1.1)
On the iMac Hard Drive: Users/Home/Pictures/iPhoto is an EMPTY folder
and right below that is iPhoto Library, the app that opens iPhoto when
clicked.
On the 80G external HD: Users/Home/Pictures is a 6.46G folder and under
that is an iPhoto Library folder that contains all the familiar stuff:
Original, Modified, Rolls, 2001, 2002 etc.
So, basically I 'lost' the contents of the above paragraph when I either
did the Archive and Install or moved from iPhoto 06 to 08.
BTW, I tried the "Revert to Original" on one older shot and it did it!
But I have no clue where the system found the original.
Still looking for a path to my old stuff.
