It used to open up when I would download a song using either Safari or
Firefox. Doesn't do it anymore. I  am talking iTunes 4.  Stop playing
downloaded songs about a week ago. I tried to import manually, no go.
Help with  step by step instructions please.  I want a Christmas Song
Library.  Thanks in advance.

iTunes _4_?! Boggle. The current version is 7.5. iTunes 4 came out in 2003.
I'm not at all surprised that you're having problems. I'm surprised that it
took so long. What OS are you running why you can't move to something
slightly more current? Hint: iTunes 7.5 will run in OS X 10.3.9, the last
version of 10.3.x. Any version of 10.3.x can be updated to 10.3.9 using a
free download. iTunes 7.5 is also a free download.

Maybe whatever is preventing you from upgrading has finally deteriorated
to the point where applications are starting to fail.  It's time to
determine the root cause of the problem(s).

Then you have much deeper problems than those wrt iTunes. I'd fix the
problems which are preventing updating first, then update, and see if your
other problems have gone away.

Why can't you upgrade? What error messages come up when you try? Have you
tried backing up your data and then doing either an archive & install or an
erase & install of your basic system. and then upgrading?

forgetting to take them back  andwhe I do they wont take them back.
Gave up. I back up using a free  online storage.

Interesting. What error messages are you getting?

This does not make any sense. What would the 'correct' disks be? What are the
'incorrect' disks that you try to use? What error messages are you getting
when you try?

Better than nothing. However, it appears that you have major problems which
should be addressed. Quickly.
