Is this documented someplace?
In the 5 years I used my trusty PowerBook G4, I always used Anacron to
have it run the missed periodic maintenance tasks. Many people reported
that Tiger's features made that unnecessary, though later information
suggested that it simply didn't run them quite the way that Anacron
would do.
Now, with a new MacBook Pro and Leopard, I simply assumed that Anacron
would be needed and I've installed it. If it's not necessary, and
there's reliable documentation of that fact, I'd prefer not to have
software I don't need.

Not that I know of.

I just observe the log results of tasks specified in my
/etc/daily.local. Timestamps coincide with the time I waked the machine.
