I used or for the better word, tried to use Mozy app. The most inept
app I have ever seen. It tries to log into server when I don't even
have it scheduled. Then it quits. I left the site and deleted my
account. I will use the fileden and other file.com sites I know will
work without the help of an application. Beth Cornell

I have one friend that is absolutely crazy about Mozy and considers it
the answer to all of his insecurities. But then, my friend is nuts in
a lot of other ways.
How long did you use it?

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

Yep. That's the one. A piece of junk. Does anyone else know of a place
I can upload files without using an application.

Well, there's always .Mac's iDisk. Sure it's $99 a year, but I find the
overall .Mac package to be worth it... just :-)

Not when you are on SSI and Disability. Can't afford it.

I've been using Mozy for about 2 weeks on my MacBook. It has been
working fine. I've got about 1GB backed up. When I'm at home, or
on something like the hotel network I was at last week, Mozy
worked fine.
When I'm at work, and the corporate firewall blocks Mozy, it
fails, which is expected.
So far the utility has not stopped, or crashed since I started it.
Then again, it is still beta software (0.8.0.0).

I don't know what you mean by not having it scheduled since it doesn't
have a scheduling feature at all. You either have it turned on or
turned off, that's it.

The schedule is under Mozy preferences. I didn't know about it
myself until the OP mentioned it and I went looking.

Oh man, how did I manage to miss that several times? My apologies to
Beth! Thanks for pointing that out, Bob.

I have it set to throttle back during the prime hours I am on the
computer (6PM to 2AM in my case). That way it does not interfere with
other net activity in those times, but can run at full bore when I am
not in front of the computer.
One of the suggestions I sent in was to have a pause button that would
temporarily stop the uploading, but easily restart it later. They
responded saying they agreed and were definitely planning on
implementing that in the release version.

I have been using it for several monhs. I have 140GB backed up on it,
which took about 2 months.
I have it set to throttle back to a crawl between 6PM and 2AM when I am
home and in front of my computer. Otherwise, it hogs the net access
bandwidth.
It has quit a few times. Sometimes becuase I pressed the "stop backup"
button, since I was working from home during the prime backup period.
Other times because it lost the connection. It always starts back up
and picks up from where it was. No real problems there.
The software _is_ beta level, as they admit. I have sent in a few
suggestions, and gotten a nice personally written response commenting on
my ideas (they didn't like one, and explained why. the others they said
they were definitely planning on implementing)
Overall, I am quite happy with it. I have it uploading all my music,
photos, and tax records. I also use Time Machine locally, and once or
twice a year make DVD copies that I put into my bank vault. Mozy gives
me a painless way to get daily backups of things like music and photos
that could otherwise be lost in a fire or burglary though.
