Flash 9 plugin for Firefox

Someone sent me a Flash link the other day and it wouldn't play in Firefox,
instead directing me to download the latest version of the Flash plugin.

I downloaded and installed the V.9 plugin, but the link still wouldn't play.

about:plugins shows that both Flash 8 and Flash 9 are installed.

One would think that the installer for Flash 9 would remove Flash 8 and make
Flash 9 the default, but that doesn't seem to have happened.

Can anyone tell me how to remove Flash 8 from the Firefox plugins?  And/or
how to make V.9 the default?  (Flash doesn't appear in Firefox > Preferences
> Content > File Types/Manage)

Have you tried the newest Flash installer? A new one just came out.

Unless the new one came out in the last 48 hours, then yes, I have used the
newest installer.

The newest is 9.0 r115. I remember reading somewhere that it is better
at removing older versions. Anyway, the place to look is "Internet
Plug-Ins" in your root library folder.

Hey, thanks for trying but now everything's working.  I opened the problem
site in Safari, just to see if it works there, and it does.  Then I reopened
it in Firefox, and now it's working in Firefox.  I don't know if Safari
somehow straightened out the Firefox plugin or what, but there you have it.

Only 9.0.47 shows up in the Internet Plug-ins folder and in the Safari plugin
list, but both 9.0 r47 and 8.0 r27 are still listed in Firefox about:plugins.

The problem will likely reappear on your next reboot, so you still need
to remove the 8.0 version.

No, it's still working in Firefox.

Yeah and shockwave won't work at all.
