Have you ever created a photomontage on your mac? I want to create one
for our rehearsal dinner and reception, but have never done this
before. Prior to experimenting, I have researched this issue online,
but have found limited results. I know that iDVD will create the
actually dvd (w/ menus, titles, etc.) for me. However, I'm not sure if
I should create the slideshow with iPhoto, iMovie, or iDVD. I'm trying
to weigh out the pros and cons of each, because I think that each app
is capable of doing it. Any thoughts?

Create an "album" in iPhoto containing all the pictures
(and, potentially, video clips, too!).
Create a "playlist" in iTunes (if you want more than a single
song as the sound track).

In iDVD, there's a media browser.  Drag the iPhoto Album
over onto the DVD design.  Name it something appropriate.
Click get info on it and drag over the playlist.
The main menu probably has some target areas (depending
on the design you've chosen) where you can drop individual
photos, photo albums or video clips which will play while
you're viewing the main menu.

You're done.  Save the iDVD project.

You'll spend a lot more time (a) selecting the photos
which go into the photo album and (b) probably even
more selecting the music! than you'll spend actually
doing the iDVD construction part.

Save a disc image from it (does all the rendering
- may take a while, especially if you have video
clips, not just pix).  Use Disk Utility to burn
that image to a DVD.

You can render->burn in one step in iDVD, but I
like to separate those steps out and have the .img
handy for burning multiple copies if necessary.

It's pretty impressively easy at least after you
figure out what goes where.  It took me a little
while to figure out (ie. construct albums and
playlists in other programs, not iDVD), but once
I got that part, doing more of them was a piece
of cake.

Plain Bread alone for e-mail, thanks.  The rest gets trashed.
