To "join" this group first go to

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usenet

and actually read enough of it so that you understand that googlegroups is
nothing but a pathetic, inefficient front for USENET.

Then you go to

http://www.newsreaders.com/mac/clients.html

and verse yourself in the different apps you might want to try to use USENET.
(Note I didn't write "join USENET.")

Before you ask here which app to use do read the above link, download a few,
try them yourself. No one knows your needs but you. After trying and
reporting your experiences, make comments here and some folks will respond
with perspectives.

At the very least, if you stay with just using googlegroups, if you do not
want folks coming through your monitor to get you, never ever post the same
question to different groups - one at a time. Instead, separate the group
names with commas. This way a response from one group gets a reply to all
groups specified. This way, we who actually use these groups the way they
were intended and has stood the test of time, will not have a mess to deal
with.

Sorry, group is closed. We'll be opening the books after OS XI is
released.

I though there was something in the charter giving an automatic
admittance to anyone with "legend" in their e-mail address.

or the zero problems MC is so concerned about.

We've beaten that particular dead horse to within an inch of its life.

But this group is disjointed - if he wants to join us all together,
let him try!
