Don't think so. I have 2 GB of RAM. Also, this doesn't happen if
I'm running any other applications along with Parallels (including
some DNA sequence alignment programs that are very memory intensive).

472 MB.
I just realized that Office 2004 apps are the only Rosetta applications
that I have on my Mac. I am going to load Photoshop and if it causes the
same slowdown.

Between Parallels and Office 2004 I'm almost sure you're running out of
physical RAM. If you doubled that to 4GB you'd probably see no slowdown at
all (or at least considerably less).
Now - granted - I have a Intel Mac and not a PPC mac.. but I did see the same
thing even on my Mac Pro until I got more RAM.
