Anytime I run Parallels Desktop at the same time as running any application from Office 2004, my computer really slows down. I don't see this happen when Parallels is run at the same time as any other application, or when Office is run with any other application. Why is this? And is there a solution? The solution to this problem would be to upgrade your RAM. How much total physical RAM do you have on this machine? How much of it is allocated to your Parallels Desktop virtual machine? Also, this doesn't happen if I'm running any other applications along with Parallels (including some DNA sequence alignment programs that are very memory intensive). > How much of it is allocated to your Parallels Desktop virtual machine? 472 MB. I just realized that Office 2004 apps are the only Rosetta applications that I have on my Mac. I am going to load Photoshop and if it causes the same slowdown. If you doubled that to 4GB you'd probably see no slowdown at all (or at least considerably less).
