How to get rid of this darn vt100 default type that i am getting
everytime i launch
iTerm? I would like xterm-color.

I have edited /Library/Preferences/iTerm.plist but that seems
uneffective.

Everytime, echo $TERM will give me "vt100" ....

Thanks for your help.

Assuming you are using the latest version of iTerm (older versions
may have things hidden someplace different).

iTerm -> Bookmarks memu -> Manage Profiles... -> Terminal Profiles.

You can change existing profiles, or add new ones of your own.

Then in
iTerm -> Bookmarks menu -> Manage Bookmarks
you edit your different bookmarks to specify which profile should
be associated with each bookmark for terminal, keyboard, display.

The bookmark (default) entry is what will startup when you launch
iTerm.
