Gen 3 FW iPod & iTunes for Windoze

I just replaced my gen 3 iPod with a spiffy, new video model.  I am
thinking of giving the old one to a friend with a PC.  Her PC doesn't
have FW, but I could buy a card for less than $20.  What I am wondering
is, is there a version of iTunes for Windows that supports FireWire?

TIA

Is there one that doesn't? Just asking... I mean, there isn't any for
the Mac that doesn't support FW. Why should there be for Windows, unless
the Win version in question itself has problems with it? Having said
that, I haven't been able to find anything on it on Apple''s iTunes
support pages.

Because Apple came out with iTunes for Windows years after the iPod was
introduced and right about the same time (I think) that the iPod
switched from a FireWire to USB2 ported device.

My "Photo iPod" (just before the Video) works with both FireWire and
USB2 from my Windows laptop as well as my four Macs. Similarly, my
first gen iPod works via FireWire from both platforms.

The iPod didn't become USB-only until the current (5th gen) models in
late 2005 -- previous models were either FireWire-only or supported
both and iTunes for Windows came out in 2003.

Your best bet for the definitive answer is to contact Apple and ask them.

But I'm pretty sure if you get *Windows* to support that Firewire card
(the bundled Windows drivers actually work) the rest is going to be
smooth sailing.
