I have a full hard drive that won't boot because of this. Is there
another way to boot it up so I can delete files so it will boot
agin. I know I was stupid for letting it get so full . Any
suggestions. My local Mac expert wants $75 per hour or $250.00 to fix
this. I only paid $300.00 for it. Any help would be appreciated.

The answer depends on what kind of computer it is. In many cases, if you
have *another* Mac, you can connect it to yours and it can see the hard
drive of this one, and so you can delete stuff on that hard drive. It's
so easy to do that your Mac expert can do the whole job in three
minutes; perhaps if you tell him you know that, he'll reduce the price.

So... how about starting from a bootable DVD or CD with an
operating system on it and then deleting whatever you want from
the HD?

I think we should redefine the problem.
Problem: mental capacity at 100%, no room for information.
Solution: neuron upgrade

In all seriousness, I think the problem is accessing Usenet via Google
Groups and the solution is an actual newsreader client.

Boot from a CD then trash some of the stuff from the drive. You do have
an Apple boot disc? You did not say what kind of Mac

If you know what you are doing : boot single user (cmd-S) and manually
remove some non vital stuff such as files in /Users/XYZ/ .
