Hi all,

Might one of you have a backed up copy of Mibasoft's iAddressX version
3.5.1? It lists all your contacts for easy access in the menubar.
The author (according to a post on Versiontracker) got a job with Apple
and dropped development/support of this great little prefpane. How dare
he go on to bigger and better things! ;)

I reinstalled 10.4 yesterday and could no longer find it on
VersionTracker; the website is also gone thus no more downloads.

Thanks in advance,
Frank

The Internet Archive saves the day yet again:

    <http://tinyurl.com/265c3x>

Note: Due to a mis-configuration on the web site, you'll need to
right-click the download link to save it to your computer. Otherwise,
the web server will attempt to display the content of the DMG file in
your web browser window (not pretty!).

Many thanks JR; your tip got me the file but while Get Info assures me
it's a 1.7 meg dmg file, Disk utility/Toast do not recognize it as such
:( Restarting and repairing permissions as some tips indicated did not
help
Me thinks the file is truncated by the server at some point during the
download.
Will continue the search.
Appreciate your help

Sorry about that.  You know, have you tried ABmenu?:

It appears to be very similar!

ABMenu appears to have the same relationship to Apple's Address Book as
QuickContact has to the Now Contact address book -- that is, it's a
"quick viewer app" that lets you very quickly find, view, and copy data
from individual entries in the parent data base, without actually
opening the parent application itself.

Does anyone know of any other simple database for the Mac -- something
like a VERY much simplified version of FileMaker Pro, maybe holding only
simple text data -- that comes with a similar quick viewer accessory?

FWIW, I get the same error so it's not a problem at your end.

Hey, you know, if something were to somehow happen to mess up your
sig-dash, totally unbeknownst to you, of course [nudge nudge wink wink],
this would get passed on a whole lot more, wouldn't it?  Not that
something like that could happen.

Deliberately setting a malformed sig is a spnakable offense. I would
not do such a thing.

However, this being usenet, I have no control over what other people
do, nor do I desire it.

Spankable isn't necessarily a bad thing, but discussion of when it's a
good thing is WAY off-topic for this newsgroup.  Deliberately setting a
malformed sig _is_ grounds for dismissal from the Balderstone Gang,
though.  Well, it would be if there were actually such a thing.

I said spnakable, not spankable.

Heh. It's *always* a good thing.

But that's off-topic, isn't it?

Indeed.
