I have searched, I have looked in groups and online forums. Can't find
a really simple way to close the Dashboard. It does nothing for me,
just sits there, takes up RAM. I NEVER use it. Some forums say to type
in a certain command in the Terminal. I want a simple button or menu
to do it. In other words, a Mac way. There was an Automator script
that seemed promising, but it simply closes the Dock, which then
reopens immediately and Dashboard is still on.
Surely I am not alone in wanting to just get rid of the Dashboard (but
not so permanently that it cannot be restarted. I wouldnt mind turning
it off after each restart.). Anyone?
if you are kind enough to email me, it's the following email without
the color inside the name.

I don't do email. I Googled: disable dashboard os x, and hit the
"feeling lucky button." This is what came up:

x.php
I'v done this on our older machine.

There's also an option in Tinkertool to deactivate Dashboard (under the
Applications tab).

How much?
That's a serious question. Do you really know how much memory Dashboard
is taking on your machine if you never hit F12?

Are you sure?
Really sure?

1. Right-click or control-click on the dock icon and say that you don't
want it in the dock any more.
2. Forget you've ever heard of something called 'Dashboard.'
3. There's no step 3.
