NY Times Crossword App for OS X?

Hi,

Does anyone know of any apps for OS X that can download the daily NY
Times Crossword?

The Java-based app that is available from the NY Times website, Across
Lite, is one of the most unattractive applications I've ever installed
on my Mac.  This is just my opinion, of course.  Cosmetically, it's a
dull grey -- maybe it takes the paper's "Old Grey Lady" sobriquet too
literally?  (Yes, I know Java app UIs are usually grey anyway.)

But you would think given the usability standards of modern
applications, it would at least have the ability to automatically
download the daily puzzle.

The actual puzzle navigation UI itself is fine.

Check out Across Lite for yourself:  http://www.litsoft.com

So here are my requirements:

- allow for authentication with NY Times account
- download puzzles on demand or by schedule automatically
- UI should show off that Aqua hottie goodness that we know and love

If no such app exists, I just might have to take up learning Cocoa.
Since I haven't written C++ is *ages*, this may take a while.

Anyone out there can help satisfy my cruciverbalist fetish? ;-)

So what you want is something like KrossWordz, or BlackInk? (Download
them from versiontracker and see if that's the kind of UI you have in
mind.) m.

Matt -- thanks!  I did a Google search but not a VT search.    Black
Ink looks like the one to beat.  Now to figure out how to download the
Premium daily puzzle.  ;-)

Right, I guess what I'm suggesting is, if you find an app whose
interface you like, write to the developer and ask for this feature. m.
