Even if you don't have iCal running at the time the alarm goes off? For
me it stays put if iCal is running, but not if iCal is closed.
I had another iCal-related glitch. I had an email alarm scheduled to go
off Tuesday night, but it didn't fire. This was the first alarm that
was expected since I upgraded to 10.4.9 over the weekend. The alarm
finally went off when I launched iCal Wednesday night (to confirm that I
had indeed scheduled the alarm that was missed). I confirmed that
iCalAlarmScheduler is still in my Login Items. I created some new
alarms last night and they went off properly. I wonder if this problem
will affect all the alarms that I created before the upgrade, or maybe
it was just a one-time problem. The next alarm that I created before
the upgrade isn't scheduled to go off for several weeks, so I guess I'll
have to wait and see.

Yes. I hardly ever leave iCal running. I use it and quit. That alarm
window problem was a main beef of mine with OS X, so I understand the
frustration. I also knew right away when it was fixed. I'm afraid I'm
jinxing it by participating in this thread.

Same as me.

It has never been a problem for me. But I noted recently that no
matter where I move the alarm once it displays, that the next time it
will display in exactly the same location.

That's exactly how it should work! And now, finally, since the last
system update, that's exactly how it does work on this machine
(frantically knocking wood).

I did not state it clearly: iCal willfully puts the alarm where *it*
wants to put it, no matter that I attempt to move it from there. Next
time it comes back to *its* preferred location, not mine. If that was
partially of the screen I'd be very irritated. As is, I don't really
care so much.
