Anyway around this problem ? Toast 7.1 will not even offer to make a DVD
of this folder from the video tab, and from the Copy tab it displays the
name of the image file.
Haven't tried to burn it yet, but I guess the resulting DVD will appear
as damaged, right ?

Try dragging the VIDEO_TS folder to the DVD Player dock icon to see if
it plays. If it does play properly, try using DVD Imager
<http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/dvdimager.html> to make a
disk image file, then use Disk Utility to burn it to a DVD.
If the VIDEO_TS folder will not play, try to extract the MPEG-2 files
from the .VOB files with MPEG Streamclip <http://www.squared5.com> and
make a new DVD, with new menus, with Toast.
