G4 compuserve dialup won't connect

Hi, I recently upgraded from a G3 to a G4 and can't get connected with
compuserve or AOL. If tried with os 9.2 and os 10.3.7. I get at most a
weak connection for 30 seconds and then it disconnects. Any similar
experiences out there? Any solutions?

Try a different ISP. AOL is far and away the worst.

I agree with your anti-AOL sentiment, but the fact that his G3 was
working fine while his G4 doesn't work in both OS 9 and OS X suggests he
has a problem with the G4's modem.

I actually never got a great connection with the G3 either. But at
least it worked. Guess I'll try an external usb modem for the G4. I
need an ISP that will work with windows and Mac. Any suggestions?

There are tons of them. You didn't mention where in the world you are
located, but just try googling for "Internet Service Provider Mac." Just
off the top of my head, some of the ones that come to mind are
Earthlink, Netzero, AT&T, but there are also a lot of regional dial-up
ISPs.
