hi folks,

i inherited a G5 iMac that at one point had an unknown version of Final
Cut Pro installed on it. the application was later deleted. now i want
to install FCP 5. when i go to install the software it accepts my first
FCP Studio code, but then when it gets to the screen where you enter
the FCP specific code...there is an old code already entered in the
field. you can't edit the code, and it is not valid.

how can a strip out this older install code so that i may properly
install FCP? i tried the same install on another machine that had never
seen FCP installed and everything was flawless. so i am guessing there
is something wedged in the OS of the other macine that is causing this
problem.

i followed this Apple instructions on manually uninstalling FCP, but to
no avail:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302337

anybody got any suggestions?

best,
alex

Go to your /Library/Application Support/ProApps directory and delete
the file Final Cut Pro System ID
