Can I print iTunes album list?

Members of a group I sing with will get together for a weekend
rehearsal/retreat next weekend. I'm proposing that we might be
interested in what's in other members' CD libraries, and I thought I'd
start by listing the albums in my own.

But I don't see any easy way to publish the album titles in my library,
or lists of titles, composers, etc, but not the titles of individual
tracks. Is there a way?

Select your Library window in iTunes, from  View Menu select View
Options, select or deselect the Column titles you want (Such as Album
and Track), click OK. Select Library pane, sort by track order all track
ones will be sorted first, now select your Album Titles, copy, paste
into any text editor.

This paragraph makes no sense at all.

Didn't make all that much sense to me either, and I've been a newspaper
reporter, copy editor and editorial writer since 1963. What I probably
meant was that I couldn't find a way to print album titles plus
composers, genres etc., while excluding track titles which would make
the list way too long.

I have 186 albums and 2,000+ tracks. Victoria's suggestion didn't
eliminate track titles. It looked great but produced a 65-page printout.
Gerry's suggestion should work, but again I couldn't figure out how to
eliminate track names. I tried pasting the list into BBEdit, which would
have worked better had I been familiar with grep. Then I pasted into
Excel, which would have worked but would have required eliminating 186
sets of track names.
I must be missing something that would lead me to an easier solution,
unless it just doesn't exist.

Feel like playing with AppleScript?

Hi Bob,

I had the same problem the first time I tried to follow Victoria's
advice because I overlooked a key step: Using the theme drop down to
choose "List of albums". The default is "Songs by album".

There's a fine line between stupid and clever.

Well, I have 246 albums and 2,000+ tracks, and using the method I
described in my earlier post, I came up with a 5-page listing of my
albums (no track names) sorted by artist.

Once, more, with feeling:

Open iTunes, choose "Music" to highlight your entire music collection,
then choose "Print" from the File menu.

You'll get a popup with three radio button choices: Jewel case insert,
song listing, or Album listing. Choose the last.

Then use the "Theme" dropdown menu to choose "List of Albums," and
you'll get a list of your albums sorted by artist.

The last step is key. If you don't choose "List of Albums" from the
"Theme" dropdown, you get a list of tracks, and yes, that will go on for
more than 60 or 70 pages.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear.

You were clear enough. I printed the list I wanted from your original
directions. Thanks for the direction.
It showed that I have a problem with my closely classical collection
between album title and performer, et al.
But it did what I needed.
I'm curious to try the applescript when I have an opportunity.

Are you using iTunes 7 (the latest version)? If so, there's a very easy
way to do what you want.

Will that do?

HTH,
Victoria
