This is a report of an observation of an odd file naming hangup in
TeXShop which seems to me to have potential for serious confusion at
best, possibly data loss at worst.
I have a TeXShop source file "myFile DRAFT.tex" -- works just fine.
1) Got it polished into final form, changed source file name in the
Finder to "myFile FINAL.tex".
When I TeXShop this "final" version, it still works just fine -- except
when I open this renamed source file the titles of the TeXShop source
and TeXShop typeset PDF windows both still display the original names
"myFile DRAFT.tex" and "myFile DRAFT.pdf".
2) Tried doing a Save As of this renamed TeXShop source file, giving it
the same name "myFile FINAL.tex" and Replacing the existing "final"
version. Same result.
3) Tried making a duplicate of the original draft version in the Finder
using ctrl-D and renaming the copy as "myFile FINAL.tex". Same result.
4) Trying shutting down TeXShop, re-opening it: Same result.
I'm no longer on the OS X TeX mailing list, and apparently didn't
preserve Richard Koch's email address. If anyone wants to pass this
along to that list or to Richard Koch, feel free to do so.

Couldn't reproduce that. (This is with TeXShop 2.10beta2).

It requires essentially no effort to find his email address using
Google. In addition, you can submit reproducible bugs in TeXShop at:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/texshop/

Are you sure you closed the file / TeXshop first? 'cause when I do
this, only ``myFile FINAL.tex'' opens. It sounds more like you've got B
tree or other directory structure problems and need to make a backup,
then to check your HD.

Thanks -- could be. I just did a few more quick tests. In one case,
changed an older source file's name to a new name in the Finder with
TeXShop NOT open, dbl-clicked the renamed file, and it opened with the
old name. Not able to reproduce this on subsequent tests, however.

Don't use spaces in filenames. They rot your teeth, make your hair fall
out, stop the trains running on time, and cause nuclear wars.
Yes, I know there are very cogent usability arguments for allowing it,
and that most of the usability gureaux think it's A Wonderful Idea.
But the fact remains that doing so will come back one day and bite you
in the butt.

One might cut'n'paste his email address from the `About TeXShop' window,
accessible from the Apple menu when TeXShop is frontmost. But to echo
Peter Flynn's comments: the best idea is don't use spaces in filenames.
