In safari preferences menu under general tab ,you can set your own
default webbrowser which will aviod opening IE or anyother browser
when you try clicking on any links

Thanks for that, Mahesh, but it isn't really the answer to
my question. I already have Firefox configured as my default
browser. It's just that on occasion I need to see how one of
my pages draws in Explorer, so I fire it up.
Each and every time an alert box asks: "Would you like to
set Internet Explorer as your default browser?" There's a
box bottom left that a chap can tick: "Don't show this
message again."
I tick the box every time and answer "no" to the question.
And the very next time I boot IE it DOES show the message
again. Coincidence? Dodgy code? Surely that bastion of
integrity Microsoft would never stoop to using opt-out boxes
that deliberately don't allow a chap to opt out ;-)
