Every time I try and "double click" a link to open a page or logon to a
page, the subtitle opens up to a menu...I dont want the menu, I just
want to click on the link and go to the new page.

Any suggestions?  I have racked my brain on the Explorer settings...

Someone had posted that it's a bug in IE.

But I have a question:

Are you "double clicking" on regular links that you find in web pages? Is
that what you mean?

Because only a single click is required. "Double clicking" is not the
correct technique for following a link in a webpage.

Now I think about it, there is no reason that I can think of to "double
click" anything in a web browser window. Not Favorites, not links, not any
web content or anything else.

You DO need to double click an application or document icon (or its alias)
on your desktop to launch it. But keep in mind that only a SINGLE click is
required to launch or choose an item in the DOCK (OSX).

As for the computer itself, double clicking is required to OPEN a folder,
since only a single click would just SELECT it.

So while I agree that incorrectly double clicking a link in a web browser
should merely follow the link as if it was single clicked, it is still an
incorrect action by the user.

That said, here are two other things that I can think of:

1.) Is there some preference in the Universal Access prefs that is
interpreting the double click as a control click?

2.) Are you using a third party mouse or pointing device whose preference
pane is set to interpret a double click as a control click, or perhaps is
set to some IE specific behavior?

I hope that this sheds some light on the situation for you.

Kenny - Thanks for the effort, but it doesn't matter whether it's a single
click or a double click. In fact I'm so frustrated with this, I've pulled a
"fifty" click in a matter of seconds in order to click the sh.t out of it. I
love the fact that when I called Mac they told me to call microsoft and
when I called them, I got hit up for $35 to solve the problem. As if they
want to charge you to let you in on a secret they no damn well would
fix thisstupid problem which has nothing to do with user error, but
likely something with the software or it's settings. Well as soon as I get
desperate enough to pay the $35, I'll post the solution on this site in
big bold letters in my attempt to save anyone else the highway error.
