Hello, operating on a powerbook G4 with OS 10.3.4 and i
recently downloaded IE 5.2.3 and now I can not load any web
pages.  The status bar says "Connecting 127.1.0" and then
after 1-2 minutes, a window of "http...failed." Netscape
works fine. Am i missing an upgrade or need to change
settings? Any clues?  Thanks-

Are you sure it is 127.1.0 instead of 127.0.0.1?
It looks like it is trying to load up the localhost (127.0.0.1)

Thanks Shrek,
Yes you are right the correct number is 127.0.0.1.  What does this mean and is there anything I can do to rectify the problem
Cheers,
AJ

Are you on a network behind a router perhaps?
127.0.0.1 is the IP address of your computer (localhost).
Do you have Web Proxy enabled?

Thanks Shrek,
You may be shedding light on this dark situation.

I am not on a network nor router, but the Web Proxy is active.  The
problem is that I cannot disable the web proxy.  The box titled "Web
Proxy:  127.0.0.1 " is checked but I cannot uncheck this selection.  Any
suggestions?
Thanks,
AJ

You might try trashing IE plists files.
